Outline Tour ItineraryWe can meet you the evening before the tour or start the tour directly from your airport. Day 1 Regensburg, Dampfbier and Brauereigasthof After we pick you up from the airport, we head down the Autobahn to Regensburg, a gorgeous medieval town nestled on the Danube. After some sight-seeing around this town which boasts over 1000 listed buildings, we then walk over the Steinbrücke, Regensburg‘s stone bridge dating from 1135. The original ‘canteen‘ for the workers, the Wurstküche, can also be seen built into the still standing original town wall! Probably the oldest hot-dog stand in the world! After some great food and beer at Spital Brewery -if it is good weather then the beer garden is a great spot, we should have time for a quick beer in Kneitinger Brewery Pub before heading out of town to our next stop of the day. We then join the Autobahn again and have around a 45-minute drive after which we head off east and into the hills of the Bayerischer Wald or Bavarian Forest region of Bavaria and to the village of Zwiesel where we visit the Zwiesel Dampfbier (steam beer) brewery. This brewery is situated in the heart of the Bayerischer Wald on the borderlands with the Czech Republic and is unique in that it produces a beer it calls steam beer. The brewery produces a great range of beers! Naturally we will have to try them. We then drive along the border with Czech and to our hotel for the night, the Brauerei-Gasthof Eck in the small village of Böbrach. After check-in and after maybe a quick welcoming beer we can then have a look at the Böbrach Schapps Museum which is attached to the back of the brewery guest house. This a good opportunity to see the distilling history of the area and maybe sample a Schnaps or 2! Cheers! We then have the evening to have some excellent Bavarian food, some beer brewed on the premises and maybe even a sauna. Sleep well! Overnight– Eck Braueriegasthof, Böbrach (Germany) Day 2 Into Czech Republic and Český Budĕjovice Today we start the day with a pleasant 1-hour drive through the mountains and onto the Czech border crossing at Strážný (Philipsreuth). On our way to České Krumlov we will pass by Lake Lipno, a truly remarkable area with some great scenery. We should arrive in the gorgeous České Krumlov, another UNESCO World Heritage site on the River Vltava late morning before lunchtime. A great place with it’s own castle, medieval old town and of course the ubiquitous flock of Japanese tourists! Let’s start with the Eggenberg brewery and some great unfiltered beer and a spot of lunch, our first Czech food! The brewery is pretty typical of a Czech brewery, great place and great beer. There are even a couple of beers at the castle, yes really!
